Last year was the first time that I decided to go to Positivus festival in Salacgrīva, Latvia. It was 8th year for the festival but I never really thought about going there. But then while looking at different upcoming everts for the summer I checked out the line-up and I really liked what I saw. The idea of being able to see Kraftwerk, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, The Kooks, 1975 and many more in one single weekeng was enough to apply for a photography pass and get to work.
So after 3 long days and almost sleepless nights I got a bunch of raw photos that at first I just wanted to edit and post online. But after a few days I decided that I should so something more with them. I wanted something that's maybe a bit more engaging than just a photo and because I have a lot of experience in making slideshows I decided that it's exactly what I should make.
I made two videos then, the first one was from Summersound and the second - from Positivus 2014. It took me a day or two to finish them. Or three because most of the time was consumed by photo selection and arranging them in the order I wanted them to be in. It turned out that the editing was the quicker part of the process. I took a lot of time watching and rewatching it againd and again to make sure that I like all of the photos there and also the order they're in and how they move on the screen.
So for some people it's just a slideshow. Just a six minute video on youtube within millions of other videos on youtube. And that's true. It's not the best video ever but it's my memories and my vision. It's what I do and will do for a long long time. With music and photography being a big part of my life I can't imagine now what else would I do.
